Mama Style {Summer Brights}

{top - Zara, skirt - H&M, neckace - Anthropologie, bag - Free People, shoes - Target}

I tend to wear lots of white in the summer. Every time I get an email from Anthro/H&M/J. Crew urging to buy more summer clothes, those whites are the first items I click on. Love them!

But color is not completely lost on me. When you open my closet doors, you'll see a dominant white-washed theme but also a decent chambray/denim line up. Following close behind is a solid group of black, and then the prints and colors bringing in the back. The brights tend to be dresses mostly and really, there's not much that's actually solid. It's mostly prints. Interesting ... guess that's just my summer vibe. Remember how much we loved bright denim a couple of years ago? My closet was filled with jewel tones then. :)

Sooo, after all of that, there's this skirt. It's a beautiful orange-y red and a great high paper bag waist. Such a fun burst of color for summer!

New Toys

Our little Monty Rowan turned 8 about a week ago and for his birthday he received this dirt bike plus all the gear to keep him safe. Lucky boy! He has a smaller motorcycle which he has been riding since he turned 6 but this one is the real deal, so he had much to learn. Of course the first time was a funny mess, as we expected, and the bike took off and he quickly fell into the grass. But that was it. One fall and we're good to go! So the family has been heading to our church as there's that huge parking lot free of cars and it's surrounded by endless fields where he can safely learn. While he's doing that, the others are on scooters, bicycles and skateboards. It's been a sweet time for us, hanging out in in the trunk of my SUV watching these kids. Ha!

What We're Up To: The Summer Life

SUMMER! It's the best, isn't it?

We've been keeping busy so far, already 2 trips away (we hit the ground running!) and so many days spent dipping in the pool. Sometimes warm, sometimes chilly, but the great thing about kids is they really don't care. It's the mamas that aren't too keen on freezing their tushies off.

Here's a look at what I've photographed of this happy summer thus far. We begin at my uncle's pool in Tulsa with all of our family, meeting up with my cousin's family as well. And you might notice that the diving board was the highlight there. Everyone was doing back flips off of that thing by lunchtime. Well, not quite everyone. The babes preferred somersault dives. ;)
 On Saturday, Scarlet and I met some friends at the farmer's market for a coffee and a stroll.
On Father's Day we celebrated all the dad's with pizza and key lime pie on the patio. Quite the combo huh? But it was lovely all the same and the weather was perfect and the bugs were well behaved. So all in all, a really sweet evening relaxing with the fam.

The kids waited rather impatiently for our guests to arrive, so I filled a bucket of water and added a few cups and they went to town. Passed the time pretty quickly actually. We don't have room for a pool in our back yard as it's all hill but I think we could squeeze in a hot tub and that sounds pretty fantastic, now that I think about it. But all that to say that it's pretty funny that our water play is reduced to this tiny bucket. They seemed content.
That's my dad. He's the best thing since sliced bread. Really, dad, you are. I have so much love for this man and am so thankful for the live he's lived and for who he is to us. My live has been profoundly impacted by him and I just adore him.

Cara's Maternity Photo Shoot

So happy to be sharing some preggie pics of my little sister with you today. I stole her and my mom away after her baby shower and we stopped at a beautiful park to grab a rather early maternity session (27 weeks along) but better now then never. I won't get to see her again until her little one arrives in September which is pretty stinking sad. Love you Cara Meliah. So glad we talked you into this and it was totally worth copious amounts of sweating. Right?
Gorgeous girls! Mwah!
