A new room for 2 little boys!

It's done (!!!), thanks to my mom and dad who spent an entire afternoon at my home, measuring and drilling and nailing and sewing. Monty slept through the racket in his adjoining room and later that evening they entered their new world. It's really awesome and so perfect. Feels like a tent but hung like a canopy. When I lay in their bed I am definitely swept away to a faraway land, filled with humidity and mosquitoes, but very exotic and cool. So the adventure begins; the first step (okay not the first but maybe the 2nd) towards becoming a family of 5 and these little boys having a tiny brother to share everything with...including their space. I think they're happy though.

Fancy shoes for less!

I wanted to display my favorites of the new fall collections available at Payless. Several designer collaborations at slightly higher prices for the Payless brand, but all under $34.99. The first and third pair are by Project Runway season 4 winner, Christian Siriano, while the other pairs are by Lela Rose, Abaete, and finally Fioni (a Payless brand). All really gorgeous and glamorous wardrobe additions (my fave being the booties, which I've noticed I'm slightly obsessed with at the moment...booties in general, I mean. Plus, they're actually purple!). The only problem...I don't think I can wear 4 inch heels anymore; those days may be over. We'll have to see though. It's worth a little clomp up and down those Payless aisles, just to try.

Farmer's market basket

Doesn't this look delicious? It made me feel all warm and cozy. Bri, another very clever and talented friend, managed to find all these goodies at the farmer's market a couple of weeks ago and made it all look so pretty before delivering the fresh finds to a friend. I wonder if I could find a yummy enough dish to create to be worthy of all this goodness. Likely not... Better to just display on my kitchen counter. :)

Something special for the birthday boy

I recently posted some gorgeous crowns for the birthday girl in your life but now it's time for our little guys to have a turn. This is Lewie Wagner and he recently turned 2. His mom Lisa created this fantastic cape before his first birthday and each year, a new and significant patch is added to it and he gets to wear his cape and feel like the super hero he rightfully is for all the celebrations. A really sweet and special way to make your little man feel important on his day and a great keepsake for years to come!

Breakfast in Bed

My little men enjoying some yum in a bowl while lounging in bed...like the kings they are. If I was as lucky this morning, this would hit the spot just perfectly!

Check out simplybreakfast.blogspot.com for delicious breakfast ideas and mouth watering pics.

Ourblogoflove

You have to check out this photographer's blog. Go directly to entry date 7.27.09. The wedding pictured here is UNBELIEVABLE! I've never seen anything so creative and beautiful with a very retro vibe. It's a big wow.

Etsy

If you've not explored etsy.com, you have to take the plunge. All handmade, crafted by ordinary/everyday people, and though tough to really find the sweetest goodies, they're there somewhere and actually plentiful. Above I have photos of some of the gorgeous and very girly items made by tamar. Birthday fairy crowns in every color at $35 and a whimsical ribboned bird cage, that I think is just perfect in every way.

I also found these handmade knit cocoons, made by beachwalkphoto. She is a photographer that made one of these snugly cocoons for the baby in her upcoming photo shoot and started selling them at etsy when friends asked for more. A really sweet idea for a newborn photo in a multitude of colors for a decent $28.

The flags are complete!

So here are the flags I constructed over the week. No picture I ever take clearly represents what I see and the perfect camera is completely out of reach, but it's an idea nonetheless. The bed canopy should be added within the next 2 weeks and then I'll hang the flags in their special place and you'll have a better idea of my intentions with all of this funny business. Just bought little fabric squares and eyeballed them to make triangles. Purchased a ribbon on clearance at Hobby Lobby and hot glued flags to ribbon. My mom would have preferred if had sewn it but my sewing machine is on the brink and my mom is the only one who can fix that, so mom...

A fall wish list

Fall is always a favorite for me. Likely because I am such a "color" person, and with this season comes lots of color both outside the window and inside the closet. Then there's the yummy comfort food, the apple cider, the spicy smells...but I digress. Anthropologie has once again provided much inspiration for the new season and there are oodles of great finds, 90% out of my price range. But here I have kept everything under $130 (which can be tough to do at this site) with the exception of a truly divine buttery leather couch that I had to add, despite the price. Although...I could probably sell Phil's car...

I've kept a diary for as long as I can remember. Here are a collection of mini journals and a fancy flower pencil sweet enough to keep the entries coming, even when I'd rather curl up with a cinnamon streusel muffin and coffee (and a little Tori and Dean Take Hollywood; a surprising unfussy and "real" celebrity mom who throws the maddest kid parties you've ever seen).

And then there are shoes, lots of shoes. A lovely deep green blouse, a color that looks amazing on everyone, and finally a frilly scarf that could possibly double as a privacy screen for baby. Maybe I'm stretching here. :) And ooh, a brooch.
