Rainy Rompers

Hello friends! I'm here to share some photos from an early evening spent with a lovely friend, playing around in a shiny parking lot near Bay Beach after the rain. We met up at a spot I've driven passed with the kids a million times this summer on our way to the pool, with a cute red staircase and the name of that much loved road in bold black. After taking our pictures we grabbed some dinner at the new Copper State Brewing Company. If you visit you MUST try the Smores dessert.

I love that these pics feel so end of summer happy, as today the kids were all officially back at school and I'm just a little giddy about it. So there you have it!

Thank you Nichole for the photos. 💗

Checkered Jumpsuit

Hello friends! Ahhhh, our beautiful summer is quickly winding down and I'm just not ready for it. Do you feel the same way? Sure we have all that fall yumminess to look forward to ... Wisconsin sure makes it hard not to love the change of seasons, even the inevitable sad cooling down is made bare-able (maybe even sweet?) by autumn's stunning transformation. We'll all be googly eyed over pumpkins and ciders soon. Okay I'll stop. 😉

We're racing through August, on the final summer stretch now, and I just don't want to say goodbye to our beautifully unstructured lives and lazy togetherness. All of my favorite memories have been created in one summer or another. Oh the unfettered life!

Anyway, I rarely feel sure of what to say in style posts these days. "Here's a checkered jumpsuit. So cute. I love them. Etcetera, etcetera." You already know and I think I'll just let the pictures speak for the clothes. I adore clothes and I can't help but share that with the world! Hah! But I'll let you fill in the blanks?

Lilac and Lace

Hello lovelies! I've teamed up with one of my dear and beautiful friends, Erin of Erin Jean Photography, to create several swoon-y style posts for you. Her photography makes everything look that much more gorgeous, so I think you'll love these posts as much as I do. Plus if we discuss the "real life" actuality of me creating style content over here in my little world, it's basically come to me begging my husband to take my photos and then complaining that he didn't get the shot I wanted. Hah! You'd think we have twitches with the amount of eye rolling we do during our photos sessions. So in the most round about way ever, I'd like to thank Erin for her inspired collab-ing with me and her gift for turning my outfits into so much more with her remarkable eye for beauty.

With the onset of summer, I am eager to feel sun kissed and freshly made-over again. Wind in my hair, pink glossy lips, sweet sunny dresses and no fuss sandals. Right?! And I'm loving the feminine off the shoulder blouses and dresses summer brings, so romantic and pretty! Everything about this particular blouse is my warm weather fave - the lace, the tiny floral print, the flowy silhouette. Yeah, it's basically my closet soul mate! 😍 We're so lucky to have found each other. 😚

Denim is one of those closet staples I love year round and for summer it's those denim cut offs that become my fave. But this season is all about the come back and reinvention of the jean skirt, something I remember wearing a lot in the 90's. Love them again!

Not every single idea is a great one. Obviously.

Mama and Mini Style {seersucker and embroidery}

{me: dress - Urban Outfitters, gladiator sandals - Zara, necklace - J. Crew Factory
Scarlet: dress - Hannah Anderson via Zulily, shoes - Saltwater Sandals}

Never have a received more compliments for an outfit than on this particular day. It was a crowd pleaser that's for sure. And to think, I almost went for a more "demure" sandal to keep things a little quieter. But the people got what they wanted! Classic seersucker and a blue embroidered Hannah Anderson on the little miss. ;) Summer dresses at their best!

Mama Style {Summer Brights}

{top - Zara, skirt - H&M, neckace - Anthropologie, bag - Free People, shoes - Target}

I tend to wear lots of white in the summer. Every time I get an email from Anthro/H&M/J. Crew urging to buy more summer clothes, those whites are the first items I click on. Love them!

But color is not completely lost on me. When you open my closet doors, you'll see a dominant white-washed theme but also a decent chambray/denim line up. Following close behind is a solid group of black, and then the prints and colors bringing in the back. The brights tend to be dresses mostly and really, there's not much that's actually solid. It's mostly prints. Interesting ... guess that's just my summer vibe. Remember how much we loved bright denim a couple of years ago? My closet was filled with jewel tones then. :)

Sooo, after all of that, there's this skirt. It's a beautiful orange-y red and a great high paper bag waist. Such a fun burst of color for summer!

Mama and Mini Style {lace and gingham}

Hello friends! Back with another mama and mini style feature for you ladies, and this one I'm particularly fond of as they're two of my favorite summer dresses together on one beautiful Sunday! Mine is a little lace number that I've had for a few years, a delicately sweet, ethereally frothy sort of dress that makes one feel almost as pretty as they did on their wedding day. Dresses like those should be worn as often as possible!
And this red gingham dress of Scarlet's is so, so gorgeous. It's the combination of those large ruffles that show off her tiny, soft shoulders and the cute buttons down the back. And that big skirt, the way it stands out as if there are hundreds of petticoats hiding beneath it. Love that!
 {me: dress - Besselli (GB), sandals - Zara
Scarlet: dress - Wren and James}

She was a little tired at the end of these, hence the wet eyes with the duppy and thumb. So ready for her nap.
