A Day Away

We took the big boys on a little getaway last week (an annual excursion for us) to a town in Door County, one of Wisconsin's most picturesque areas. They look forward to this day each year and we talk about it for months after. It's simple really, a nice long (quiet) drive with our favorite music, a breakfast that includes a tea pot filled to the brim with hot chocolate and topped with whipped cream, one for each boy. (You have to be old enough to drink from a tea cup to come along :) A poke through the confectionary to pick up a few bags of sweets. A walk along the water and through the forest. And that's about it. It's lovely.

A Photo Shoot {the Marek family}

I have a sweet photo shoot to share with you this evening. Meet the Mareks, dear family friends, and a couple that shares the same joy of raising 3 little guys. We met on a breathtakingly beautiful October evening and caught cherished moments together as the sun began to lower over the water.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Thank you, wonderful Marek family, for allowing me to capture this precious time in your lives. Much love to you!

Christmas, a Little Early

It's been a little tricky to maintain my regular everyday posting schedule of late but it's a lovely problem to have, so I'm not complaining. I've been awfully busy with all things Christmas actually, taking photo after photo of kids dressed to the nines in their festive fancies. Kinda loving that.

Here's a tiny peek at 2 of the shoots, both for articles that I've written for November holiday issues. Will definitely share these photos in all their glory come November but for now, please enjoy ...

Elliot and Arizona
I want to take a moment to thank you, wonderful supporters and followers of this little place (I get a little cringe-y at the word blog, but yes blog). You are a quiet bunch and I completely understand that as I too am a silent reader, rarely ever leaving a comment for my favorite bloggers out there. But I know you are there, liking my posts and pics on Facebook and Insta and occasionally responding to a tweet. Though I admit, I'm terrible with Twitter, so I wouldn't even know how to reply to your reply (though I'm sure I just need to go there and look ... but then I'd have to go there).

I may not hear your feedback much over here but I hear it via word of mouth, you know? And as a result, I have had an incredibly fun and busy month of photography, all due to the photos posted here and the families that have come my way over the last couple of years. You guys are so amazing and this little photography business has kept me on my toes of late. Photography is a creative outlet that I love dearly and one that gets me all giddy and silly. When it's not that for me anymore, then I suppose I'll stop. But I am so thankful for your interest in my pictures and for your crazy wonderful feedback. It's awesome.

Please though, if you're ever here and you think of something you might like to say, do so! And if you just can't figure out that silly commenting thing, please like Lovelies in my life on Facebook (click here) and you'll see all posts updated there regularly and perhaps they'll even pop in your feed (but those feeds are a mess aren't they?). I'd love to know if there's anything you particularly enjoy seeing or reading here and want to see more of. Or if you're happy with whatevs, that's cool too.

I continue to write for YOU Magazine and am working on an article for the Green Bay Press Gazette's Home for the Holidays issue (or insert ... unsure). And there are some cool things happening there too which I'll announce officially when it's all official. Full circle back to Christmas and all the gorgeous little people that I will share with you over the next few weeks, dressed in their merry holiday outfits. Yippee! Is it too early for me to have a little Christmas spirit? Uh oh.

Family Style {plaid for fall}

 {me: jacket & blouse - Target, skirt - F21
S: dress - thrifted and borrowed from cousin Adorlee, moccs - Sophie Kate Moccasins from Etsy}
All dressed up for church on Sunday in our unintentionally similar shades of green. Crazy how that happens. ;) I'm loving the way plaids and buffalo checks are hitting the shelves so much sooner this year, not just for the Christmas season. I adore a lovely plaid, so I'm all for it! Even did a long double take when walking through the Ann Taylor Loft store about a month ago, giving a sweet little pair of plaid trousers the googly eyes. But I let them be. Though (case and point) I still think of them all too often.

A Photo Shoot {the Artel family}

I had the great pleasure of photographing our wonderful friends, the Artels. They popped over to our home a little while ago (and thank you for that!) as their session was just 30 minutes after I took Molly and Claire's pictures! The light was absolutely lovely on this particular morning, so I really should have been shooting family after family after family. I just love it when the sun shines in the most perfect way possible.
Much love to you Genna. What a gorgeous little family you have!

(You might remember Genna's photo session with the kids at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens last year.)
