My kitchen's Christmas List

Parker and I were doing a little baking a couple of days ago, making gingerbread cookies for his birthday party at school. All I had to roll the cookie dough was a tiny play dough roller and so that's what we used. I remembered my recent trip to an Anthropologie store in Chicago where I saw a pretty ceramic hand painted rolling pin, which I eyed up for quite some time imagining all the wonderful ways I could use it (or more accurately, how lovely it would look on my counter top somewhere). The website no longer has this rolling pin so I can't share it with you but I did find some other beauties that I have to have!

You can never have enough kitchen towels. I think I wash mine every other day!

Measuring cups...oo la la. They're perfect.

Measuring spoons... so wonderful. If you're going to have to measure ingredients, you might as well do it with whimsy and style.

Much Ado about Santa

Santa

At dance today the little ladies were able to gush about their Christmas lists and such. One came to me and whispered in my ear that she had received an email from Santa (I used to get phone calls back in the day and this year my kids will receive one too - Santa currently resides in South Africa and goes by the name of "Father Christmas"). Then another shy little one (age 5) tiptoed up to me and proudly pronounced that Dasher had left a poop on their roof, with a big happy smile and shining eyes. I went along with the gaiety as I gave a silent hats off to the parent that came up with such genius. And then I wondered if the family actually made a trip up the ladder to inspect said poop on the roof or if they just took their parent's word for it.

Oh yeah!

I am now the proud owner of one gorgeous apron. Gifted to me today from a very sweet dance mom. I have tried it on twice this evening and have made food zero times. But I have eaten approximately 8 times, once in apron, and most of those were of the candied variety (though once was a salad which X's out all other bad foods) as I have been given, along with my cherished apron, 4 containers full of Christmas edibles. The homemade caramels are my favorite, but I haven't tried the fudge yet. Mmmm....I love you sweet things in my mouth....

Jolly Christmas decor

A little Christmas love in each room. We have a short and fat tree this year, picked by Parker. But it's our most beautiful yet. A few branches from the back yard laden with snow flake ornaments adorn the fire place.

It's craftie time again!

The crafting spirit has hit me again and I've been making little felt flowers for the past couple of weeks. Here's how you do it -
Cut 6 2+ inch circles out of the felt
Fold one in half and then fold in half again and sew the bottom until it stays in that folded shape
Once you have 3, sew the bottoms together to make a mini flower
Then once you have another 3 sewn, add them to the outside one at a time
And there you have it! Did that make sense at all? :)

You'll see the final product after the weekend, as it is a bit of a secret till then.
