A Baby Dedication

On Sunday we dedicated our youngest little man to God. We did the ceremony at our home this time, lead by the grandpa's with all of our friends and family in attendance. It was a precious time and we won't forget the sweet little moments.

The table was set by my mom, a tradition we've kept for each child's dedication party (between my sister and I this makes 5!). It's something that my grandmother and my mom used to do together for special events when we were kids. They start by covering the table in foil and then create a pattern with the finger foods, starting savory and ending sweet.

We have a little dedication outfit that each of my boys has worn. It has a very old fashioned look (I think it's inspired by boy's clothing from the early 1800's) and it's a pale blue and off white silk. When Parker wore it for the first ceremony his grandpa chuckled that he "looked like a clown". And a very fine clown he was!

My big boys look on as the candles are lit. Loving, adoring, giving and absolutely incredible brothers. The tightest of bonds is already evident and I'm so very, very lucky.

The boys with their wonderful Grannie.

A song for Elliot, sung by Phil and accompanied by Jeanna. The boys were in awe as their dad sang "Beautiful Things" (by Gungor) and that afternoon Monty kept his guitar in his hands wherever he went, attempting to recreate that cool moment. :)

Thanks to all who were there for this day!

  1. Hi Kirsty,

You inspired me. Got wonderful ideas from you for my first baby boy's dedication. You've shown a good example that what makes a celebration great is not the amount of money spent on extravagant food and decor, but on the love and intimacy present.

    God bless you more!
