Keeping it Casual

 Hello friends! Here's outfit #2 in my "color splash" shenanigans. It also happens to be #2 in my "stolen wardrobe" pursuits. You see, I'm wearing my mom's clothes for the next week, since she's almost returned from her trip to South Africa and my opportunity to wear her wardrobe will soon be gone. Busy, busy!

I've seen similar army-esque jackets on several fabulous fashion bloggers (example here, here & here)  so much lately and though I don't think I would've paid much attention to something like this in a store, I've loved the way it's been styled on the world wide web. Anyway, I've considered looking out for a cheaper one at Forever 21, something to play with in the layering department, obviously cute over jeans & a t and dresses alike.

But back to mom's closet. I was actually scanning the hangers for a hot pink blazer (my newest crush - thought she'd be sure to have it - no luck) and found this instead. Pretty great alternative!

Oh, and here, finally, is the cut off post I've been promising! This is one of my favorite ways to wear summer cut offs - unexpectedly dressed up. Sure they're great with a t-shirt and sandals too, but I love it most with something fun on top, sort of fancied up a bit. I've worn them with all sorts of pretty blouses both structured and breezy, and with flats and wedges alike. A mamma style easy enough to replicate, comfy enough to wear to tennis practice and cute enough to don out to dinner (though I'd admittedly switch out the sneakers for my green braided wedges).
 This is all my hair has managed to do lately. I'm in desperate need for a trip to the miracle working hair dresser plus all these early mornings of hauling the family off to tennis is not allowing for much prettying up time. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
{jacket (mom's closet) - Coldwater Creek, top - Aerie, shorts (purchased full length) - T J Maxx , belt - Target, sneakers - Old Navy}
 Thought you might also enjoy this cake that the boys and I baked together. We chopped up 3 Muskateer bars and stuck them in the batter too... pretty stinking delish. You really need something like this to get you through a week like we've had here. Rain, non-stop. Wonder if this is what it's like in Seattle, a city I so adore but which happened to play nice when I was there and stay sunshine-y. I guess I'm not sure which I'd prefer, months of endless rain or months of endless snow. As crazy as this sounds, it may be the latter (only cause the rain seems to also bring eventual mold, bugs and soppy smells - yes?)
