A Photo Shoot {little miss Ingrid}

So pleased to share these pictures with you today. This is precious little Ingrid, at about 6 weeks old, and she is joined by her mama and her big brother Arthur. What a joy it is to photograph these gorgeous babies. I just can't get enough of them. ;)

Here are a few of my favorites …
Much love to you Blaire and family! Can't wait to watch this little lady grow.

Sunday Best {black and white}

{necklace & bag - Free People, sweater - Forever 21, dress - Kohls, clogs - Urban Outfitters, bracelet - The 2 Bandits, ring - made from antique ear ring}

Just a peek at our Sunday best starring the new bob! Having fun playing with my new do and feel very airy and chic with less hair (here are the 1 - 2 pics I showed my hair stylist as inspiration hair - Travis at Salon 54 for all you locals! He's incredible when you're in the mood for very natural, sun kissed highlights. That balayage technique is the best thing that ever happened to me :). These 2 boys, Parker and cousin Dylan, wanted to jump into a picture and they both looked very dashing and Gap-y in their cotton/chambray on denim.

I tell you what, it's not easy dressing for this weather anymore. It's not so much about the cold, it is the length of what we've endured. By February's end we've had enough. I suppose I'm including my family in this "we" and that there may be some that love it, but ugh! I'm done. Done, done, done. Want to move forward with fresh air, open windows, walks outside, tiny buds and sprouts and pleeeeeeease, spring clothes! I know, we have a ways to go (sad, sad face).

Hello God!

{Tried to get a pic with the 3 sisters - my little sister is here! - and just didn't know how to be natural for it, so became completely unnatural instead :) - picture taken by Parker James}
{I mean, seriously? It's tough to do a plank even when you're fit as a fiddle. Also, just so you know, I made her do that.}

Last week was amazing and we experienced several little miracles.

1. On Wednesday, Daena's blood count was "very low". Low enough for the nurse to say that she must not get sick or she would not be able to fight the infection and for the doc in our family to suggest that she stay with my parents to stay away from the kids. Her nurse at Mayo also said that she would not do chemo on Monday (yesterday) unless her blood count went up and that would require a "miracle".
2. Last week 3 of her children and 2 of mine became sick with strep. And on Thursday we all watched as baby Jude dealt with a tiny tummy bug and threw up all over his mama.
3. Daena never became sick at all!
4. On Friday she went in for blood tests and her counts were really good! She'd had the miracle she needed. Chemo was on, once again.

Amazing, isn't it? Thank you God for that!

PS: There were things about last week that were hard too and that's where your whispered prayers made the difference. I think I'll try to focus on the good that we're experiencing in Daena's journey to healing from cancer. But know that there is more and that we cherish your prayers. Thank you again friends and family for your love and support. You are awesome!

A Family/Maternity Photo Shoot

Hello friends! Happy weekend. I want to share a selection of photos from a family session that I recently shot. Miriam and her two men will soon be welcoming a new little person into their lives and how I loved taking pictures of her gorgeous belly. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks so much Miriam for the pleasure of taking your family's pictures! All the best in these last few weeks before your big day. xx Kirsty

The Butterfly is 9 Months Old

Portraits of a 9 month butterfly + a few words.

Scarlet Evangeline, you are so dreamy. So incredibly dreamy. Now, at 9 months old, you are crawling and pulling up to stand and even going up stairs. No problem! You're inquisitive and interested in what everyone is up to, so getting around was essential. You like to sit under coffee tables and suck on XBox remotes. You love baked potatoes and mac n cheese but also steamed broccoli and fruit leather. You're not really into purees anymore … those are so 2 months ago.

You love to play and pull up in your crib and one morning, when I came in to you, your sweet little pink wings were inside your bed with half the feathers powdering your mattress. Hmm … learned my lesson there. And at night (which, by the way, is still my least favorite time cause you don't like to sleep all the way through) when you call me for a snuggle, you're standing up as if you're the queen of the castle and we're about to have a disco. But yes, little lady, you wake at night and all your bros were sleeping through by now. I'm sort of unsure of how to tackle it. On one hand I think, awww you're so adorable and squishy and sensitive and my last baby ever. So let's just go with the flow on this one. And on the other hand I think, I am SO TIRED. I don't know. It's tough to argue with a face like that.

You love to talk now too. You say "mama" and "dada" but only if absolutely necessary (like when you're so incredibly sad that you simply must have one of us). And you love to roll out a long string of "lala" and "baba" and, every once in a while, to blow silly bubbles for a delighted audience of brothers.

The other evening, when I arrived home from teaching dance, you were asleep on your daddy's lap. Your head was forward, face in your duppy, like you had just given up on trying to hold it upright. I often come home to you on his lap, cuddling your duppy and sucking your thumb, eyes glazed over. But this time you were actually asleep while the house bustled around you.

We think you're wonderful, really truly wonderful.
