A museum comes to life

I sometimes love what Wade Robson creates; definitely not always. It tends to be the more "romantic" pieces that move me. His latest masterpiece was stunning and I wanted to share the dance with you (which as a bonus gets you a glimpse inside the choreographers head). As intrigued as I am by the dance itself, I'm astonished by the costuming. So beautiful and dangerous, but that's what an almost nude sculpture would be. And the story they told; too cool!

For my boys, love Etsy

The coolest skivvies ever made! Makes potty training kinda cute :)

Ah...my little super heros all deserve their own super capes. I mentioned this sweet idea when a friend of mine made her son his own birthday cape and here it is again. It comes at a time when dressing up and "flying" around the house is quite popular and a particular cousin is more often seen in his Spiderman muscles than his own skinny bod.

My sweet newborn...

My tiny Elliot at 1 week. A little different now at 6 weeks, roll-y and double chinned, sneaking a few tiny smiles, that wonderful baby smell. He's magnificent!

Etsy finds of the week!

This week is all about kids. Monograms, heirlooms, and just really pretty things. All with the adored child in mind.

I'm completely in love with this and it's something I'm really considering doing. Send in a picture of your child's profile and Whitney will create a hand cut silhouette, the final result being a beautiful vintage cameo pendant. These pendants are antique brass rings in 3 different size options with the back covered in anything from antique sheet music to foreign language book pages (oh, how romantic). She can add text or even double side it with a picture of each child. Just too beautiful for words and something to cherish! By Luckymebeads.

A crocheted tea set for your little lady. Seems like it's right out of a time capsule, along with a china lounging cat and a crystal ash tray. Okay, maybe not with those things in particular but it does somehow transport me to another time and place. Strangely, it's a very sweet and special lady that comes to mind and her astonishing home which was covered from floor to ceiling in extraordinary antiques. She was the grandmother of my best friend Raschika, also known as Tannie Gertie,... a lavish old lady who was reminiscent of the eccentric grandmother in the movie Great Expectations (Gwyneth's version and in all the best ways possible :). She was astonishing, beautiful, and very unique and she lived in (and never, ever left) a little palace of crystal, sweets, music, mirrors, and cigarettes. We loved to visit her and dance with her as we fueled our sugar high and toured the rooms of her home as our personal museum and even explored her jewelry box with wide eyes.

More kid cameos, this time in a frame and on your wall. You can add their initial if you'd like. By Chirpstudio.

A lacey knot apron dress made by 3littlebirdsboutique. Too lovely!

A quiet afternoon...

This is how Parker and I have spent our afternoon today. Building houses and towers out of bricks, over and over. Every once in a while he'll belt out a festive song and dance (school Christmas show I presume) and occasionally his tower will, in fact, be a mystical creature of some sort...like a bad guy tree (a tree with bad guys hiding inside, Jeez!). It's been quite nice actually as I've had a chance to write in between brick laying and even managed a mug of hot chocolate. Monty and Elliot are sound asleep and Parker is getting all the LOVE.

Etsy finds of the week!

Let's celebrate shades of yellow and anything warm & cozy this week with Etsy! Bring it on, Winter!

Awww... sweetness and bubbles all wrapped into a tiny birdie package. My sister and I are very much into birds at the moment. Wierd? Nah...we're nature lovers at heart ;)

I'm in the mood for fingerless gloves. Anybody else?
Find them at Afra.

All I can say is "Wow!" It's really a piece of art around your neck. Cowl neck scarves are making a big hit this winter and Etsy is not letting us down in the knit accessories department.

A hodgepodge of thoughts

My sweet Elliot is now almost 4 weeks and he lay on my buffet table (don't ask ;) intrigued by the afternoon sunlight as I captured a few pics. I think this was in the middle of one of his noisy stretches.

A very fine plate of "all things baby" inspired cookies made by the mom of one of my dance students. She has quite a talent for details... you may notice the tiny ribboned bow on the pram. It's hard to eat something so pretty! Okay, not that hard.

A shot of the 4 of us. Not the best but it'll do. Monty had to peek out from under the giraffe's nose to see anything. He was Melman, Parker was Alex, and Elliot was Rico the penguin. All from Madagascar, a favorite movie of ours.

A home of my own

I have found a home that I think holds much of the same aesthetic of my own. The owner and I bare some resemblance too (a mom of 3 boys) and it surprised me to see the similarities in our collections. While still quite different, both of our homes are filled with bright, patterned textiles, art work, and vintage treasures. It's all very eclectic and nothing really matches which I've often thought might be a "problem" of mine, but I see in her photographs how lovely and homey it all feels. She seems to have an equal love of dishes (particularly rose-y ones), old quilts, ethnic fabric, and lots of color. Thought I'd share her pics with you too. There are many but don't get bored too quickly, cause they're sweet to the very end. You'll find them Here!

Oh yes. She also happens to be the designer of a collection from etsy that I featured on an earlier blog. The very same one that makes those sweet little tulle and butterfly birthday crowns (Tamar and Nest Pretty Things).
