J. Crew for Fall

J. Crew's new fall line made me "ooh" and "ah" over and over as I made my way through the lookbook. As expected, each outfit is styled in such a mismatched, thrown together but absolutely spot on sort of way, not withholding the sweet accents that make each look sparkle. I'm especially excited to see all the (much adored) tights on these models, worn under their cut offs no less. I was wondering about that ... keeping my favorite shorts around for a little longer this year and perhaps wearing them with tights underneath. Looks like I won't be the only one. Would you give it a try?

There's SO much to love!

Inspired By Jewel Tones

I just love the beautifully bright and bold colors found in this home (seen at Design Sponge). Lisa is an illustrator and designer and her home is decorated with fantastic colors and plenty of gorgeous wallpapers. The art, my favorite part, is Lisa's own and from a series called "Where is Alice?". Perfect, isn't it? It's all a wonderful mix of whimsy and modern.

You may remember this wallpaper which is also in her son's nursery (one I featured a few days ago).

Also loving this space found at Free People.

I remember my best friend and I painting logs to look just like this when we were kids. I think we found some that were similar being sold at a market and wanted to do it ourselves. They were really cool too!

A taste of Free People's Fall catalog.

A Smashing Success!

I mentioned earlier that I made a stop by a garage sale on Saturday, and boy oh boy, I'm thrilled I did because it was a treasure trove. We were just lucky enough to happen across the rainbow's end and it was a glorious sight! This gentleman was selling his great aunt's antiques and had emptied out much of her attic, he said, and there it was. Either he was in a hurry to move it or he didn't care much about the price because my purchases totaled $20 and I found them to be so fancy, well worth $50 or more! He had the most wonderful old sewing machines with their tables. One was black with that painted flowery print. And a really cool old wooden potty chair. And more lovely lamps. Oh, so much! I knew I had some special spots where I'd display my new finds (though these spots are always rotating their wares). Here's what I took home with me.

This chair is in perfect condition. And I have a weakness for velvet chairs!

This is an oil on canvas, popped into this awesome frame. And it's huge! A little fugly but I just love it.

This lamp was the first thing I went to. It's unbelievable.

And I picked up these squeaker shoes at Sweetpeas for $8. Monty loves them, of course. He ran laps around the house enjoying the noise they made and I find them pretty adorable (as opposed to annoying - I understand why you might worry though). Doesn't hurt to know where he is at all times.

~

This morning we went swimming. It was a perfect morning. Parker and Monty have started swim classes and therefore feel so much more confident in the water. Neither would wear their water wings. My mom taught us to swim "when we were babies" she says. Almost every home in SA seemed to have a pool in the back yard and so did ours. So we spent a lot of time swimming as children and were very happy in the water. There aren't many pools in our back yards here in GB, so I'm really thankful for this lovely one at the docks (where Papi keeps his boat). Summer is so wonderful...

Looks like E might be interested in a crawl after all. We'll see though...

All of my handsome boys.

Project Runway starts tonight! See you on the other side.

Runway Fashion - Marc Jacobs

Today's runway fashion belongs to the unbelievable Marc Jacobs, who has showcased a stunning collection of cozy furs and warm coats, long & gorgeous leather gloves, perfectly retro shoes, ethereal and sparkly dresses and magnificent details. He has so many pieces in this collection that it was really difficult to pick just a few lovelies to share. They're so perfect for the new cooler and festive seasons approaching. And I have three absolute favorites.

This complete outfit is just so perfect. Favorite #1!

A gorgeous dress, long and flowy. Favorite #2!

Had to have some sparkle and this one is just beautiful. Favorite #3!

The Coolest Kid's Rooms

This post was meant to reach you yesterday, but my kid's got really handsy with the computer and my attempts failed. But it's here this morning (right before I run out to teach some ballet classes) and I hope you love it as much as I do. It's for all the moms who are ready or nearing the room redo for their big kid or pregnant with baby. I've mentioned that we're working on moving my niece and nephew in together and it's taken much consideration. I found such inspiration at Design Sponge, and amazing room after room. Here they are in all their glory!

Oh but first, here's a big kid room from my own home (as seen before). My 2 big boys moved in together last year, in anticipation for E's arrival and his snatching of the nursery. They really love living in their jungle safari rockstar room. The tent in definitely my favorite element and they dig that cozy feeling when sleeping and even manage to think it protects them from lurking night time monsters (too much Scooby Doo, I think?).

And now a few simply beautiful baby and big kid rooms, single and shared, with loads of great ideas. This nursery has the most divine wallpaper!

Such a sweet little place for baby.

Aren't these walls spectacular?

Stunning!

What I think is the coolest colorful shared room, a little bit boy and a little bit girl.

Serene and lovely.

So much fun!

Oh so pretty!

Bring on the jungle!
