An Interview with Little E

Elliot answered a few questions for me today, those that came home from school and will be a part of his I Am Special book. Thought I'd record his answers this way first and it turns out he was as silly as ever. Lots of gibberishy answers. Thought you might enjoy a bit too. :)

Maternity Style {day at the museum}

{shirt - Rabbit and Eye from Etsy, moto sweatshirt - Forever 21, skirt - JC Penney, shoes - Gap}

Our family went on a short road trip to the Milwaukee Public Museum today, with the intention to check out their Real Pirates exhibit. We knew little E would be in heaven there and it turns out that all the boys had a blast and were absolute angels, thank goodness for that! Baby stayed awake the entire time it seemed, kicking and moving around non stop, especially for the drive. The exhibits were pretty good, a real Night at the Museum sort of place where you imagine all the life size exhibits wake up at dark. I think that Disney Land (World) sort of ruins everything else really, as nothing can compare to what you see there. And E kept asking when we were going on the pirate ride. But they had fun all the same. Made me a proud mamma. :) This is the last family excursion that will have 3 walking, (almost) completely independent kids on hand. Next time we go somewhere together, there will be a cumbersome stroller, diaper bag and bazillions of supplies. Here we go again!

Oh Baby

Oh baby girl,

This week you're 31 weeks along and though you are still small, you sure know how to pack a good, flexi ninja punch. You seem to have a sweet spot that you always go for which is against my hip bones. The strangest thing I've ever felt from my babies, that intense pushing against my hips.

Lately I've had some new cravings, cranberry juice being one of them. I love to mix it with a little bit of Sprite. It's so delish! I can't drink enough of it. And I've been dying to get my hands on some fish tacos for a good 2 weeks now but daddy hasn't made that happen yet. I've not given up hope though - he can still pull through for us!

That picture is a peek at some of your clothes, a few of my favorites. Funny that so much of it is still blue and white, as I've certainly had my share of blue around here. Miniature clothing is just so stinkin' cute.

I finished a really good bit of your room this week, polka dotting a wall and painting some drawers. It's been so much fun getting your room ready, bits and pieces at a time. I've even washed your clothes which is quite on the ball for me. I guess I'm a little worried that I may get to a point when it's too much to do, too late. Not that it's ever happened before ... but with a dance recital just 10 odd days before you arrive and all the preparations that go into that day heading my way in April, well, I just hope to be ready a little early. Certainly won't hurt. It's going to be a very busy final 8 weeks, so hold on tight!

Love you little one. Praying you stay healthy and strong. Oh yes, and see you again next week.

Your mommy

Maternity Style {31 weeks}

It's the kid's spring break this week and don't we look springy?

I have a good feeling about this week ...  specifically, that the longest winter in the history of WI will finally come to an end. That the snow will melt and stream down our streets, creating pools for the little furry creatures to play in, and the birds will greet us each morning and ever so often sit upon our warm shoulders as we skip to work play shop for the day, all with serene smiling faces as we sing together in a perfect human-creature harmony that is only possible when 25 months of winter finally come to an end. It's happening ...

Isn't little E too cute in these?

Newborn Photos {Jude}

My sweet little man Jude allowed us to poke and prod him a couple of mornings ago in order to get a few precious newborn pictures. He did a wonderful job sleeping, crying and nursing his way through them, even keeping me on my toes with a 2 second smile!

This is Jude at one week.
And this giant frog is his duppy. It's really not quite as giant as it looks but I thought the size difference was just so adorable and had to be taken advantage of while we could. Each Gustafson child has a frog duppy and that frog is their #1. The word duppy originated from my little sister Cara, who came up with the name for her own favorite blanket when she was a baby/toddler (and which she slept with through college - shhhh!). We decided to keep the duppy name for all of our kids too. It's just so perfect. By the way, happy birthday Cara Meliah! Mwa!
Then we had to wake him up again for a new shot.
Which required mommy kisses and cuddling and finally ... back to sleep we go.

3 Boys

{this is a part of a series in 2013, a portrait of my kids, each week for the entire year - unless things get a little too crazy!}

Parker
Every single day he draws a cartoon, usually inspired by his current favorite games. Used to be crazy Star Wars characters and now it's all Mario. Here we have Mario Music and Mario's Ten Commandments. They read ...

1. Bowzer shall not capture Peach twice (in a row)
2. Enemy's can not jump on Mario's head (or Luigi's)
3. Bowzer can not get to MEGA
4. This game has to be fun!
5. It can't get to(o) hard (only on final battle)

Obviously all very important. :)

Monty
Always blanketed, always surrounded by soft, cuddly toys.

Elliot
He's practiced more this week than Monty's has. He's going to give M a run for his money too.

Introducing Jude Daniel Gustafson

The newest member of our family, my nephew Jude, was born on Wednesday evening (3-13-13) at 8:55pm. He weighed an itty bitty 6 lbs. 7 oz. and he instantly stole our hearts. Here are some photos of how that afternoon unfolded for my sister, starting with the traditional pre-labor braiding of the hair and ending in complete and utter happiness. :)
