The adult onesie

We had the gaucho (a huge fave of my brother-in-law, by the way :) and then leggings, which finally won me over but had me very weary for a while. There were skinny jeans, which I still think look good on just a tiny amount of people with teensy legs (though I gave them a try and felt short and wierd everytime I caught a glimpse). Now we have the romper, also fondly known as a jumper or playsuit (funny!) and strangely and without hesitation, I love them! They're completely divine and best of all, no one wears them, at least not here. (I definitely prefer to wear what others are not.) It's a rough time to be pregnant as it is not the easiest thing for a belly to tuck into, yet I did find one at Express that was perfect. It has a larger middle section and apparently tends to stretch as you wear it, so... yay! Here are some other faves... maybe next year? I'm fairly brave with my wardrobe, but am not brave enough to wear flowers in my hair everyday, something I would do if I would; but I won't. Wonky!

Very, very lovely!

Lunch today; ham and cheese sandwiches.
PS: I am not a foodie, not even close. But I love the way food looks, both on my plate and in pictures. :) So I occasionally make an effort at yummy meals.
And so we have dinner...

The recipe for dinner tonight. Mushrooms and poblano tostado - Real Simple mag

And the final product. A 20 minute meal that was easy and really delicious. Even Phil really enjoyed it and warning, it's a tiny bit spicy. Here's the recipe...

serves 4
2 tbs olive oil
1 lb button mushrooms
1 poblano pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Kosher salt and black pepper
1 cup corn kernels (cut fresh from 1 ear or frozen)
4 small flour tortillas
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack
2 cups shredded romaine lettuce
1/2 cup store bought fresh salsa

Heat 1 tbs olive oil in a large skillet over med-high. Add mushrooms, pepper, garlic, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Cook, tossing occasionally, until veges are tender, 6-8 minutes. Stir in corn.
Heat broiler. Brush tortillas with remaining oil and broil until crisp, 1 minute per side. Top with cheese and broil another minute. Top with veges, lettuce, and salsa.

The tricky thing about blogging is that I have to use all of my own images. So I guess this means I'll be taking my camera everywhere I go. Now I have a very decent camera, but it's of the larger variety, creating a bit of an eye sore. Oh, how romantic a polaroid sounds. But sharing polaroids has got to be more difficult than I wish to explore.

You'd think I was a holistic mamma by this pic, but alas... The greenest thing I've done is throw the appropriate items in their recyclable sections and wash with only cold water. Though I am surrounded on all sides by green ladies (and I do love them dearly :), I am what I am only because of Monty's food allergies (and now the addition of a mild dust mite allergy which requires me to wash with hot water to kill them!) Consequently, he has a limited but more "organic" diet, which ensures that he is my pickiest eater but perhaps healthiest. I don't know...I still think Parker is healthier. Point is, I thought it was amazing when I grouped all those organic goodies on the counter. Expensive, questionably tasty, and amazing.

Ode to a vacuum

I don't, however, love cleaning. There are many aspects I despise (never, ever, ever do I iron!). But vacuuming I can handle. There's a reason for that, our one great splurge, my Dyson. Words cannot even express...
My childhood was one from a time and place (SA/rockin' 80's) that required little in the house keeping department, of any of us. We had a full time, live in maid, that made life easy for everyone and I'm sure has left lasting ramifications. But thank goodness for the slightly obsessive/compulsive types in my fam who have left equal impressions and provided my will to clean despite all... So I come back to my Dyson, the one tool that has changed my little life in very sweet and subtle ways. Thank you for always leaving those lovely stripes where ever you go. Makes me feel accomplished.

So today I enter the wonderful world of blogging, inspired completely by mypolaroidblog.blogspot.com. It's gorgeous, to say the least. I realize that my life, though not much in comparison to Jen's and seriously lacking in trips to Paris or fancy jobs in NY, is still completely filled to overflowing with beautiful people (big and small), homes, goodies, yummies, and trinkets. So I will share them here with those that care to enjoy and hope that they do not keep themselves hidden but are proudly displayed where-ever I am instead.
First big project in the works, Monty's 2nd birthday party. Pics to follow.
And this summer I'll redo the nursery and the boy's room (which will become so in August...cross your fingers). All rooms are inspired by South Africa, land of color and all the best in kid's cute.
Since there's a baby in the belly, life is baby biased, but I'll try to keep things interesting...
I don't know if anyone will read any of this and am unsure of when I'll be brave enough to even let a soul know about it's existence. But it's quite theraputic nonetheless. Hmmm....
