A Year of Lovelies

This month was my one year blog birthday! It's been therapeutic, inspiring, challenging, eye opening, obsessive, and unbelievable fun! I've tried to make much improvement from day 1 till now and even attempted an entire facelift. Hope you all enjoy what you see and please, if you come back time and time again, I'd love to have you become a "follower". And all comments are much enjoyed!

Also, today I found out I will be featured at one of my favorite "little ones" blog kenziepoo. Elliot's room will be there in all it's glory, under her "featured nurseries". I'll let you know when it happens. So exciting!

Over the Weekend...

I thought I'd share our weekend in photos. Just a few here and there moments. Elliot now prefers to stand all the time! Once again, our family will not be spectators of the crawling phenomenon and instead my baby will skip it and attempt the "help me!" walk. I wonder what it is about me and my mad parenting skills that enables my kids to skip this milestone ... But it is what it is and I'm not concerned, as I've discovered that despite this omission I have both an athletic type and an intellectual type. They don't seem to be lacking in any way. It's just funny to me. So little E is figuring out how to pull up and cruise. Slowly but very surely. Hoisting that rotund belly and those large wobbly thighs up, up and over. And he's the most determined of the 3 to make a gallant effort at the crawling position, in the hopes that I'll snap a nice picture for his memoirs.

My Sunday outfit. A white T with a lovely draped tulip skirt and a necklace from the downtown antique mall. I went for comfy.

A more detailed look.

The huz's new Toms. Just doing our part folks (insert - smiley face).

Devouring his water with a monster face.

Lots of sweet cuddles.

IPhones are insane, aren't they!?

Fame!

I love this dance routine choreographed by Wade and Amanda Robson for this season's So You Think You Can Dance. The colors, the costumes, the story, the steps. Such fun!

Cake Pops

The first time I ever saw a cake pop was when my friend Jessica delivered her perfect little cake pop creations to our dance show, as a dessert for the kids. They were tiny and colorful and very yummy. What a wonderful idea! On the heels of the mind blowing and life altering "Toy Story 3" (the first 3D movie I've seen, that wasn't inside a muppet theater), I've found the perfect cake pops for your child's next party. Check out Bakerella, a blog filled with eye candy goodies for all occasions and in particular, for the kids celebrations, with instructions on how to achieve such lovely endings. We'll see ...

Sweet Things

Last night's dessert was splendid. Have I mentioned how much I love cupcakes? And you know what, I don't think I've even made a dent in the cupcake kitchens of the world. I read about little bakeries that make nothing but! And how they have long lines that are completely worth the wait, every time. But last night's red velvet wonder was delicious and the chef is outstanding at everything she makes. I knew it would be good...

There are 2 things that are all over the blogs right now. Macaroons and Swedish clogs. Quite the mix. Now every picture I see of these French macaroons makes my mouth instantly water and I can't wait for my turn to try them. It seems that Laduree is the place to shop for such delicacies and that Parisian tea salons are the setting for such loveliness.

Don't they look delicious? What the angels might eat, I think.

And in complimentary shades, Swedish Hasbeens. Pretty lovely.

How High Can You Go?

I'm kind of in love with these wedges by Jeffrey Campbell from Modcloth. They're modeled here by Carolina Engman, a Scandinavian fashion blogger whose blog fashionsquad, is a photo journal of her many impeccably styled outfits, and always has me engrossed and fascinated. Takes me to a very different world. I've always loved it when a person (on the street, at the mall, etc.) tries to make a statement with what they're wearing. Even if I wouldn't wear it, I still appreciate their sense of style. Honestly ... even the kid walking by with his jeans hanging low and the chains slung around his neck. I dig it! He made an effort. (giggle). I don't often see much out of the ordinary when it comes to clothing around here, but every once in a while I'll get to do a double take, impressed and inspired. In fact, that just happened tonight at dinner...

Now these are another Jeffrey Campbell pair (he rarely disappoints!) from Modcloth and they're almost a replica of a pair I bought 11 years ago, and unfortunately, just recently boxed up for Goodwill. I worked at Arden B back then and loved to wear them to work. Boy, was I cool!

What a Deal!

I spied a similar pair of boy's sneakers by Creative Recreation on sale for $32.50 at a boutique in Tulsa.
I scored this super cool pair at Gap for only $8!

{And just in case you don't listen to the radio much, the quote in my last post was from a cute song. :) Seemed to fit in perfectly with the pricey designer gowns.}

Oh my!
The 2011 resort collection from Valentino is just stunning. "I want to be a billionaire so freakin' bad".

Welcome to the Circus!

I found most of the circus themed items at Hobby Lobby and their collection was pretty impressive (if you're ever on the lookout for brilliant carnival or circus items, you have to take a look!). Instead of party hats, we had clown noses! The party favors were giant blow up guitars and equally humongous microphones, and on the wall was a monster (and by that I mean HUGE) back drop of a stage with lights and speakers, for all the rock stars! (all from Oriental Trading Co - grandma). The marshmallow train cake came from T J Maxx, amazingly enough. My mom made the cupcake clowns; sweet treats that she once made for one of our own birthday parties as children (though I can't remember which one of the 3 sisters had them, only the pictures of the cakes!). Oh, and the little lanterns were from Target.

That's about it. Parties are pretty cool, aren't they?
