3 Birds and a Butterfly

{This is a part of a series in 2013 called the 52 project. A photo of each of my kids every week of this year}

A lovely warm summer's day at the end of June

Parker - You've grown comfortable with picking up and holding Scarlet. It's wonderful to see your confidence grow in taking care of her. You're an incredible big brother to all of your siblings.

Monty - You tell Scarlet a thousand times a day how beautiful she is. She will never lack for anything as long as you're nearby.

Elliot - The bugs seem to love your sweetness this week, poor guy. You've got some terrible bites. You make me giggle cause you're such a great friend to every kid at every park in the city. I have to keep a watchful eye on you but I love the fact that you can be so bold and cute with everyone.

Scarlet (only managed an iPhone pic) - You smile at us when we talk to you and you do that dreamy open mouth, nose squinch, eye wink kinda look that makes me feel like we're sharing a secret joke together. You're at the start of your (ongoing to be sure) interest in lights of any kind and you love to stare at them in complete absorption, often sharing a few mesmerizing words with the bulbs and windows. If I get you in the right mood, you'll agoo and awoo with me too. Ah, it's so awesome. And also, you rolled over twice this week. Twice!

And finally, before the weekend is here, I'm whipping up a tiny look at today's outfit for you too.
{All quite old: hat - Banana Republic, shirt - Kohls, necklace - thrifted, shorts - Express, shoes (are newer though) - Target
bracelets - South Africa, Brandy Melville, Madewell}

S tried to photobomb my arm candy shot this afternoon. ;)

An Engagement Shoot {Allison and Jared}

I was so excited to take Allison and Jared's engagement photos over the weekend. They're the cutest couple ever and had no problem with all the snuggling and kissing I required of them. In face, they seemed perfectly at home with it (wink wink). Here are a few of my favorites.
Seriously adorable, right? Thank you both so much for the wonderful pleasure of shooting these. You were so much fun to work with. :)

If you're interested in seeing a little more of my work and have any questions, take a look at my look book over here

And just a side note ... if you are a bit of a blogoholic, as I am, you may already know that google reader will be nixed as of the end of this month. This may have no effect on your life at all (most likely) but if you did love the way google reader kept all your bloggie reads in one space and you actually used it from time to time, I'd suggest you head over to bloglovin' instead, where you can now follow my blog and many other awesome reads. It's a cool spot to keep all your reads organized (so you don't forget them ever again) and a little easier to navigate. Just click below (at the end of this post) or click on the bloglovin' icon on the left side and you can follow along that way. Good luck (and that's for my mom)!

A Haircut and an Outfit {in order of importance}

It was time (sad face) ...
 but thankfully his super hero powers were not affected and as you can see are, in fact, still top notch.

We tried for an outfit photo that afternoon as we both looked pretty cute, if I do say so myself. I'll give the credit entirely to those leather shorts though. Yes, I did say leather! And before you blast me with all sorts of "how is that possible in the middle of summer?" type questions understand this.

1. They are mint green and that in itself is enough. Always.
2. They are as soft as a baby's bottom. Not even kidding.
3. They're a boyfriend fit meaning it's a comfortable elastic band and slouchier short so I was able to wear them even when 9 months pregnant! Holla.
4. They have great air flow control for leather. ;)
5. And finally they were a gift from Azure in De Pere which means they're pure luxury and I should be prancing around Greece in these shorts instead of a Green Bay grocery store but heck, I wore them to a really lovely BBQ that evening so that counts for something.
{on me: polka dotted chambray and flip flops - Old Navy, shorts - Azure (GB)
On e: jeans - South Africa, Native shoes - Crewcuts}
Just a sweet little shot of Monty, very proud, and standing next to his ice cream "mixed media" at art camp last week. Yum! We eat way too much ice cream in the summer.

A quilt

This post is for my dear friend Chelsey, a lady I sorely miss and one who shares the same passion for vintage, thrifting and well, granny chic. She had asked me to take a few pictures of this quilt which an incredible local quilter made for me about a year ago, after it appeared several times on my Instagram. The fabrics are a bit of a hodgepodge of textiles that I'd collected over the past several years though there are a few newer batiks that I picked up to allow for the king size. All florals were originally vintage sheets. My inspiration was this image and I've found that my version looks pretty with the chevron pattern laying in either direction, so I change it up every once in a while. As you can see, the deep blues eventually lighten and change into sunset colors, ultimately "fading" again into blues. It's not easy to get a good shot of it in its entirety but I tried to at least show some of the detail. Enjoy Miss Chels! ;)
 And modeled by Ro who didn't need much convincing to snuggle under this mountain for a picture. :)
I'm eager to have another made (and another). I would love to try one in black and whites. Something like this perhaps? Or this! And this is stunning! There are so many unbelievably talented women out there and it is so cool to be able to see what they do and to get those little peeks into their homes via Instagram. Look forward to trying that video option soon too.

Anyway, happy weekend to you all!

June 19th - A Celebration!

Yesterday we celebrated Monty's 6th birthday and little Scarlet hit the one month mark! We did all sorts of fun things for Monty, starting with his favorite breakfast of cinnamon rolls in a pepped up dining room that I'd decorated with a few fun birthday goodies to make him feel the love (all of which I already had but just needed to just corral from the depths of our basement for this purpose). Parker had mentioned to me the day before that he thought he "was going to have a birthday surprise" when he woke up on his bday (back in December) "and then there wasn't anything". Made me feel awful that he didn't feel super special from the second his feet hit the carpet, so I was on a mission to improve that from this point on. Ha!

Anyway, here are a few pictures of our butterfly and you'll notice that they're much the same as these. Thought I'd see how she grows with her toys as a measuring stick of sorts. :) Thank you to Aunty Daena for her sweet outfit.
... and a big sneeze to end it all!

And here's a little collage of firstly, Monty's special day, and then just a few other summer activities that have been keeping us busy. We're having such a blast hanging out at the parks for not only tennis lessons but loads of picnics and today even some music. We're loving the splash pad and this week the big boys are creating at Summer of Color art camp at our children's museum (last week they got outdoorsy at Nature Nuts camp at our local wildlife sanctuary). And I finally got myself and the 2 littles to our downtown farmer's market yesterday and it was just lovely. So much to do, eat and see there! Though I'm thankful at those particular times that our temps don't rise to the 90's. Pushing a stroller while piggybacking a 3 year old is almost enough for a giant okay, mild case of heat stroke (not really but kinda).

Pretty Little Things

Just a little inspiration today as my Pinterest boards are overflowing with things I am completely in love with. All leave me with a warm, summer feeling.
 Always wanted a hat wall ... just not sure where. Certainly have enough for it though!
A summer bed with the most exquisitely cozy bedding
 What a beautiful space. Those floors, that incredible chandelier, the ceiling, the bench and all the sunlight. Perfection.
A bowl full of succulents, seemingly this summer's trendiest and most adorable plant :)
